Riverdale Pilates is very focused on the original rehabilitative goals of Pilates. Toronto Physiotherapy clinic operates out of Riverdale Pilates. For our Pilates clientele, this additional service allows clients who may be working through injuries the opportunity to receive physiotherapy treatments from a therapist who works closely with their Pilates Instructor.
Lindsay J. Davey MSc.PT, MSc, BSc, CAFCI, CDT Registered Physiotherapist, Certified in Acupuncture Certified in Combined Decongestive Therapy Lindsay graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters degree in Physical Therapy. She received the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Award for obtaining the highest academic and clinical standing among her peers, and was the valedictorian of her graduating class. Prior to entering the Physical Therapy program, she completed a Masters degree in Medical Biophysics, where she conducted cancer research as part of the Ontario Cancer Institute at Princess Margaret Hospital.
Lindsay has pursued post-graduate training in several areas. She is fully certified through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute, and incorporates acupuncture into her physiotherapy treatments with excellent results. She has received advanced training in manual orthopaedic therapy through the Orthopeadic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Lindsay is also certified in Combined Decongestive Therapy for the treatment of lymphedema. Lymphedema is adnormal swelling, most often in the arm or leg, due to an accumulation of lymphatic fluid, which can result from certain cancer treatments, including mastectomy, lumpectomy, lymph node removal, and/ or radiation. Lindsay continues to be highly involved in the University of Toronto's Physical Therapy program, and acts as a Clinical Reasoning Facilitator for students in the advanced orthopeadic section. She is also a member of the Continuing Education Advisory Committee, in her on-going commitment to optimizing the clinical experiences of physical therapy students. In her spare time Lindsay stays active with running and weight-training, and promotes physical therapy initiatives in her community as a volunteer physiotherapist for the Special Olympics FUNFitness program. |
